Q. Who purchases and maintains all the hardware ?
A. Polaris Mail handles all the hardware purchases, maintenances and upgrades at no extra cost to you.
Q. What monthly costs should I expect ?
A. Your monthly bill will depend on the number of active users and on your traffic.
Q. What methods of payment do you accept ?
A. We currently accept payments made with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, by Check and by Wire Transfer
Q. What is your emergency response time ?
A. Every customer has access to a special Alert mechanism that will trigger a response from our team in at most one hour, although 99% of our responses are done within the five minutes following the Alert.
Q. What is your average response time ?
A. Our average response time is below 1 hour during business hours.
Q. Can I break the contract if the QoS is below expectations ?
A. In the unlikely event that our service falls below previously agreed upon expectations, you are free to break out of the contract without any penalties.

A. Our offices and servers are located in Montreal, Canada (East-Coast)

A. Our business hours are from 09:00 AM to 17:00 PM Eastern Time
Q. What is your policy on outages ?
A. Our software is designed and tuned to work under heavy loads and multiple checks are in place to ensure the continuity of the services. Furthermore, despite our efforts we may also be subject to random hardware failure. In such cases, a backup mail-server will automatically take over and resume the services.
Q. How often do you backup the data ?
A. All the data regarding your user-base and configuration is backed up daily on a central Network Backup Server
Q. How much bandwidth do I have available ?
A. All customers are included into their base price a monthly transfer of 320 giga-bytes
Q. What is your latency compared to our offices ?
A. Our servers are connected with a Tier-1 bandwidth provider: Peer1 Networks. Thus, our latency is minimal across North America and overseas. Although our entire facilities are firewalled, you may run a traceroute to the following IP address and note the latency of the last available hop: 69.28.212.220
Q. Will we have access to manage our domains and users ?
A. Every customer has access to a secure Web-based administration interface from which he can control the addition/removal/customization of domains and users
Q. Will you help with the migration of our existing users ?
A. Our migration team will ensure that the migration of your user-base will take place without any incidents and without any down-time. The migration from Unix systems is done free of charge. A surcharge applies for a migration from a Windows Exchange server.
Q. Will you help with the integration into our billing system ?
A. Sure! We already have several pre-written scripts to handle most existing billing systems.
Q. Can we turn SPAM filtering on/off for specific domains/users ?
A. The activation/disabling of the SPAM filter for specific domains/users can be achieved through your individual Control Panel
Q. How many users can I have on one server ?
A. On a dedicated server, the maximum number of users that can co-exist is of 10 000 or less.
Q. What size should each mailbox be ?
A. The size of each allowed mailbox will be determined by contract. Usual sizes range from 2MB to 100MB
Q. How much space do I have available ?
On a shared server, each mailbox has a specific quota and you are thus limited to those quotas. On a dedicated server, you will have 80 giga-bytes or more of disk space available for storage.
Q. Will you sell our E-mail addresses to spamers ?
A. Our main goal is to keep you a satisfied customer as long as possible. Under no circumstance will your e-mail accounts be available to anyone for harvesting purposes.
Q. Do you install one domain per IP address ?
A. We usually install all of the client's domains on one IP address but if you require one domain per IP, we can accomodate you.
Q. Who will handle the Reverse DNS ?
A. We provide reverse DNS service for our own IP addresses
Q. Do you have backup MX servers available ?
A. Several backup servers are available to store your mail in the event of an outage with your own server.
